Medical Point İzmir Hospital Makes a Significant Contribution to the Environment Through Digital Transformation
As part of the digital transformation efforts carried out at Medical Point Hospitals, 4.8 million A4 paper printouts were saved in Izmir alone in the last year. This transformation also resulted in a saving of approximately 2,800 liters of water, prevented 32 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, and avoided the felling of 562 trees.
Having received the "ISO 50001 Energy Management System Certificate" last year, İEÜ Medical Point Hospital continues its sustainability efforts without slowing down. Environmentally friendly transportation is supported by two electric vehicle charging stations installed in the hospital garden, and the hospital's executive car is also an eco-friendly electric vehicle like TOGG. Furthermore, with the initiated Solar Power Plant (GES) project, a significant portion of the hospital's electricity needs in İzmir are now met by renewable energy sources.
As part of digitalization, nursing services and biometric consent processes have been moved to electronic platforms. This has not only simplified service processes but has also contributed to the environment by significantly saving paper, water, and energy. Simultaneously, improvements have been recorded in many areas, including increased process efficiency and employee satisfaction.
Veysi Kubba, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Medical Point Hospitals Group, drew attention to the environmental impacts of digitalization, stating, “We are aware that natural resources are not infinite. Therefore, we act with the future generations in mind, not just the present. With our digitalization activities, we are not only improving the patient experience but also fulfilling our responsibility towards nature. We are not afraid to take risks. These steps are being taken not only for today but also for future generations. At the same time, we are acting with an understanding that aims for continuous improvement in every field.”.
